Elegant. Classic. ![]() Jo Sherwood Design kept those words in mind when designing our collection of pet bowls, and the results are just what we imagined. What we didn't know when we started out in the year 2000, was how much hard work it would take to create the bowls that were so easily sketched on drawing paper, notepads and even the occasional napkin. Friends, suppliers, shop owners were amazed, amused and often confused. Could these graceful, tasteful plates, bowls and flutes truly be for dogs and cats? We insisted they could and we'd make them out of the finest glass we could find. For our Civilized Pet Collection, we chose fused glass. Made using ancient techniques perfected by the Egyptians and Romans, they translated our myriad of designs and colors into modern works of art. For our Best In Show bowls and Pet Flutes, we chose the subtle beauty of blown glass in seeded, frosted and clear. Handcrafted stands completed the pieces and our designs were ready for market in 2003. "These bowls were gorgeous. I mean, nice enough to just use as display pieces. Which is, when you think about it, precisely what a dog bowl is."Pamperedpuppy.com "The Civilized Pet Collection by Jo Sherwood Design puts a new spin on "the cat’s meow" or even "going to the dogs." We should all have such elegant dishes." Boston Globe, August 21,2003 |
